Everyone is calling the storm names like snowpocalypse or snowzilla or something.  I'm sure it can't be that bad!

I was down at Beau's apartment for the weekend.  Not only was I on my period but I dunno, maybe it was this this thing I ate, but my stomach felt absolutely terrible on Saturday!  And we were originally supposed to go to Michigan to Beau's parents' house to pick up Aidan so he can go back to school this week, but they called us and offered to meet us halfway around Benton Harbor so we didn't have to go all the way there.  I was a little bummed just because Beau's dad is a mechanic and he is supposed to fix my car.  Not a huge problem I guess.  Not sure when it will get fixed, though.  The pump for windshield wiper fluid doesn't work, so if someone splashes my car with dirty snow and I use my wipers, it gets so smudgy I can't see!  It's really bad for expressway driving.  I have to pull over and clean it with snow.

Anyway!  I didn't even go to Benton Harbor because my stomach felt so bad I had to go to the bathroom twice before we even left town and I just had Beau drop me back off at his place.  It was really sucky because I had to wait maybe 4 or 5 hours for him & Aidan to come back.  But he had tons of dirty laundry everywhere and desperately needed to do it, so I decided to do it all for him while he was gone.  And then I caught up watching the rest of The Legend of Korra season 2 online while I waited for them to come back.

Beau's parents gave him a huge set of dishes from some family member who wasn't using them.  They were in someone's basement in boxes.  So the dishes are quite nice and there are settings for at least 10 or so people.  It's because when Beau's parents were visiting a while back and they saw his dishes, they said why was he using crappy plastic ones (>.<) or something like that.  So because Beau basically has all new dishes, he decided to give me his old ones.  So now I have tons of cups and plates and a few bowls.  I only had 4 plates before and a few cups so it's probably a good thing.  But I really don't think I need so many dishes!

I think I'm coming down with something.  I might go to bed early tonight.  And I should probably wake up early because I heard all of the snow is supposed to be drifting a lot due to winds.  The roads could be really bad in the morning.  It usually takes me around 2 hours to drive home from Beau's place but it took me about 3 hours today because of the snow.  It snowed all last night, about 6 to 10 inches.  It was all over my car and Beau's parking lot.  At first I was afraid I wouldn't be able to leave there lol because the snow was so deep in the parking lot I would have gotten stuck.  But thankfully they plowed it before too late and I left his place after lunch.  I usually wake up at 6 AM and leave for work by 6:45 but I might have to wake up at 5:30 tomorrow... hmmmm.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my brother & his family moved to Germany yesterday.  My brother is in the Air Force and his new assignment is 4 years in Germany.  He was in England for 3 years and Korea for 1 year already.  I never got to visit him at either place... if possible I want to save money and visit him in Germany.  It might take me 2 or 3 years but I want to at least try.  It's been a dream of mine for a long time to visit Denmark because my great grandfather came from there... Denmark is attached to Germany and I would like to visit both.  I used to have a pen pal from Germany in elementary school and again in high school, plus the exchange student in my class at my high school was from Germany... I have a lot of friends from there and friends that studied German in school, but I don't know any German at all (T^T)

I have a job application due tomorrow with a library which is not full-time, but it still pays 15 bucks an hour... it's probably the best part-time rate I will find.  And I have actually worked at 2 libraries.  I should be able to get this job.  But the job application requires 3 letters of recommendation.  And 2 people I asked have apparently forgotten about writing them.  I just talked to them on the phone and now it's quite possible they won't have time to even write them for me at all.  I feel really disappointed.

A lot of my appropriate tags for this entry are Japanese...

EDIT:
Hold up.  Lady that said she probably couldn't just e-mailed it to me.  So... I guess I just need one more now.  Let's see if I can get it.

EDIT:
Got all 3 that I wanted and applied to the job.

Sadly there was a 2nd job I was also going to use 3 letters for but I apparently missed the deadline on that one by a longshot.  The pay was less for that anyway but still.  It's not really a guarantee that I will get this one, either.

However, I'll remain positive!  I'm highly qualified to work at libraries.

And in somewhat related news, I finished the translation test and sent that off... they've been pretty prompt with dealing with me so far so I hope I'll know soon whether or not I can start making a little money with translation.

This is the soundtrack for the Super Nintendo game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Turtles in Time.

I recommend skipping ahead on the playlist to Big Apple 3 AM (which is the song for the first level... the other opening music here is for title screen and dialogues).

This game is super awesome and I used to love playing it.  I recommend it if you have a Wii or something that you can buy retro games on... you will enjoy it.  And it's for one or two players.  Just sayin'.

The guy that uploaded all these songs has a website he linked from youtube where he allows downloads of audio files for this game and a ton of other games.

I just downloaded soundtracks for Castlevania IV and Chrono Trigger, too (>.<) so nostalgic.

And totally random, but this TMNT game's music sounds perfect for a Japanese sports day lol.

I had such a weird dream the other night.

I dreamt that after graduating college I spent two years in Canada as an experimental botanist growing plants called "brain shoots".  They looked a lot like ivy but the leaves were lighter green and they didn't have vines/tendrils.  They were apparently often infested with spiders if you didn't take good care of them.  And also, most importantly, if you ate the brain shoots, your IQ would be permanently increased.

I was raising, de-spidering, and eating the brain shoots for two years in Canada, and then, I came back to my university to be on some quiz show.  I never finished the show in my dream so I can't tell you whether or not I won.  But in the dream I was banking on winning because the brain shoots had made me smarter.

So last night, I told Marcel about this dream, and he said he couldn't believe I was using the brain shoots to cheat on the quiz show lol.  And he was like, "Darcy, where in Canada were you?  Where are these brain shoot plants?"  So I said I thought it was BC but I couldn't really remember.  And then he was hugging me and cuddling me and he was like, "Darcy, there are no poisonous spiders in Canada."  Lol I can't really remember all of our conversation but he was cracking me up big time.

So then I did a google search for "brain shoot plant" and came across this image.

Then I wanted to watch it... and found the full movie on youtube haha.  I haven't watched it yet but it seems pretty stupid and/or amazing.  Marcel and I are going to watch it later I think.

I'm glad we're both so random.

So the English classes in my city are pretty regulated. There is an 8 or 9 part class schedule we follow every time. I have two elementary
schools and they sometimes have different names they use for each part so it confuses me, but the parts are fundamentally the same.

Let's Say Hello
Let's Sing a Song
Today's Topic
Today's Aim (Let's Watch the Skit!)
Today's Point
Let's Chant (AKA Practice Time)
Let's Try (AKA Challenge Time)
Advice Time (happens halfway into the activity to help when kids aren't remembering the English well)
Today's Treasure (AKA Treasure Time)
Let's Say Goodbye (AKA Goodbye Time)

So during Today's Treasure I pick out several kids who did a good job, especially kids who achieved Today's Point (eye contact, clear voice, helpfulness, etc).

I have the kids stand up and then I say what they did that was good. When I'm done, I say one of the praise words/phrases the kids know, such as good job, great, super, fantastic, wonderful, well done, and I give them a double thumbs up. Then the kids are supposed to say, "Thank you, I'm happy!" with that gesture. Depends on the kid, but some do it really enthusiastically and some don't do the gesture at all...

I think it's pretty cheesy. Now when I'm with my other English teacher friends in my city and someone does something good, I'll do the old GOOD JOB and they'll say THANK YOU I'M HAPPY. I think I will kind of miss doing this when I get a new job someday.

Soooooooooo bored.

Marcel doesn't wanna do anything and fell asleep.  I kinda want to clean up my floor but he's laying in the way.

Today I realized I have writing assignments from high school still saved on my computer.  Obviously I didn't own this computer back then but when I transferred files I must have kept them.  Even have old layouts from kiwibox journals on word files on this thing!  SERIOUSLY!

Best thing was seeing that back in high school I wrote some pretty cool sentences.  Probably better than the novel I am currently writing lol but I can console myself with the fact that my novel is still in draft stage, right?

Oh snap... this assignment is dated March 14, 2001 (date due, I'm assuming)... that's the very day my friend Dana died.  Which is creepy.

"The overpowering stench of fish is everywhere like a mist surrounding both the merchant and customer alike; the smell weaves itself into the very fabric of their clothes and twelve washes will not remove it.  When they return home at night, their non-fish dinners will taste like fish and they will have dreams of fish."

OK I don't like the way I drew him in the first picture... but the 2nd one looks more like him.  His head looks fat and weird in the first one but I was too lazy to fix it.

Yes, today I am wearing a black hoodie, black corduroy shorts, gray and black zebra print leggings, and bizarre neon socks. Also my computer stand is neon green.

Last night my novel passed the 27,000 word mark but I keep getting distracted by the internet, so I think I will unplug the cable from my lappy after I finish posting this. Tooooooooo distracting.

EDIT

Yesssssss lol what did I tell you. I turned off the internet for 90 minutes and wrote over 1000 words in my story. Hello 28,000 word mark!! XD
